Warminster is eastern Bucks County, home to about 33,000 residents. The community includes military families, suburban families, and working-class households. Family law issues here center on custody, support, and straightforward divorces; these are practical problems with practical solutions.

Custody and Father's Rights

Pennsylvania law doesn't favor mothers over fathers. Courts apply the best-interest standard equally to both parents: who has the stronger relationship with the child, who provides primary care, who's more stable, and who's more likely to encourage a relationship with the other parent. Fathers who are actively involved, whether working full-time or not, have every right to custody or substantial parenting time.

We litigate aggressively for fathers' rights. If you're a father seeking joint custody or primary custody, we present evidence of your parenting involvement, your child's attachment to you, and your capacity to meet their needs. We also challenge stereotypes that courts sometimes apply unconsciously. Modern Pennsylvania family law recognizes fathers as primary parents. In custody disputes, both parents typically get substantial time if both are fit and involved. The court might award one parent primary custody with the other having 40-50% of parenting time. Or the court might order joint legal custody with rotating physical custody, allowing each parent equal time with the child.

Child Support and Support Enforcement

Child support is calculated using Pennsylvania's income-shares model. The non-custodial parent pays based on their income and the percentage of parenting time. If you're the custodial parent and support isn't being paid, enforcement is available through the Bucks County Domestic Relations office. They can garnish wages, intercept tax refunds, suspend a driver's license, and even pursue contempt charges.

Enforcement takes time. The Domestic Relations office processes cases in the order they arrive. If you need quick action, we can file a contempt petition in the Court of Common Pleas asking the judge to hold the non-paying parent in contempt and order immediate payment or jail time. Most people pay quickly when that action is filed.

If your situation has changed (you lost your job, your income increased, or custody shifted), you can request modification. You must file a petition. Courts can modify support retroactively to the date the petition is filed if circumstances changed substantially.

Modification of Custody and Support Orders

Custody and support orders aren't permanent. If circumstances change (either parent relocates, income shifts, custody dynamics change, or the child's needs evolve), you can petition to modify. The court requires a "substantial and continuing change of circumstances" to modify custody. Support can be modified for changes in income or parenting time.

We handle modification petitions for both parents. If you want to increase your parenting time because your ex isn't caring for the child properly, we can litigate that. If you want to reduce support because you've lost income, we file the petition and argue for the reduction. If you want to move away and take the child with you, we address that through a relocation modification petition.

Uncontested Divorce

If you and your spouse agree on everything (property division, support, custody), an uncontested divorce is the fastest and most economical path. You file the Agreement and Property Settlement at the Court of Common Pleas in Doylestown, serve it, wait for processing, and finalize in front of the judge. The whole process typically takes 3 to 6 months.

We draft the agreement, handle filing and service, and appear with you at the final hearing. Simple, straightforward, and affordable.

Contested Divorce

If your spouse contests the divorce (disagreeing on property, support, or custody), the case requires exchange of financial information and settlement negotiations. Most contested divorces settle before trial. We exchange discovery, evaluate the evidence, run the support calculations, and negotiate a settlement that works for both sides.

If settlement fails, we prepare for trial. We present evidence on property division, support, and custody. We cross-examine your spouse and any expert witnesses. We get a judge's decision and move forward from there.

Protection from Abuse Orders

If you need a Protection from Abuse (PFA) order, we file in Doylestown and can often obtain an emergency order the same day. The order can prohibit contact, mandate distance from your home and workplace, and address custody temporarily. The other party gets a hearing within 10 days to contest it.

If you're defending against a PFA, we prepare your defense, appear at the hearing, and argue why the abuse allegations don't meet the legal standard. PFA orders have real consequences, so a rigorous defense is necessary.
